Adam James Nichol – An Inspiration

Wandering the New Town today, as you do, I met a truly inspiring boy.

Adam James Nichol is seven years old and about to start in primary three.

He engaged me in conversation outside the Alexander Graham Bell on George Street, Edinburgh while Gran? went inside to order.

Adam told me lives in Ladywell, Livingston but today was due to play football, or maybe even referee the match, somewhere in Edinburgh. “Over there, turn right, three roads and up there” he explained pointing South.

Gran returned and astounded me by explaining that Adam was born profoundly deaf but that years of NHS treatment and some special hearing aids had produced this articulate outgoing young fellow.Apparently his hearing aids had been forgotten today as well.I can’t possibly moan for the remains of today.

A toast to Adam James Nichol of Livingston. You made my day.
